How an ultrasonic sensor works
Ultrasonic sensors are based on the measurement of sound waves with a frequency above the human hearing range. These in turn are based on three physical principles: Time of flight, Doppler effect and attenuation of sound waves. Ultrasonic sensors are non-intrusive as they do not require physical contact with their target and can detect certain clear or shiny targets that are hidden from view by other sensors.
