Bitcraze Crazyflie: Innovation from Sweden
Since 2009, dedicated Swedish engineers have been developing and producing the Crazyflie quadcopter. The three founders originally worked for Epsilon AB – the development project for a compact drone was then called ‘Daedalus’. In 2011, the team decided to go it alone and have been promoting their open-source quadcopter ever since with their own company, Bitcraze.
Bitcraze drone as an open-source project
The Crazyflie drone is particularly popular with developers, tinkerers and scientists. This is easy to explain: Bitcraze is committed to the open-source concept, and the team consistently implements this approach in both hardware and software.
This proves ideal in practice: as a user, you can easily create your own personal quadcopter and expand or adapt it at any time. The possibilities for robotics and more are endless! For example, equip your Bitcraze drone with additional sensors such as a magnetic sensor or a module for inductive charging! You can also connect the Crazyflie to various control modules and different software programmes.
The current Crazyflie Drone 2.1+
The Bitcraze team is constantly developing the Crazyflie series: the current models are marketed as Bitcraze Crazyflie 2.1+. These quadcopters offer the following advantages:
- Compact and very light, weighing only 27 g
- Radio range up to 1 km
- Compatible with iOS and Android devices
- Easy to assemble on the circuit board without soldering
- Wide range of interfaces
