Description

The Pololu Zumo chassis contains the basic components needed to build a small robot vehicle chassis.

On each side of the chassis, a free-running sprocket runs over a drive gear connected to a gearmotor. The ABS plastic body has room for two gearmotors and a compartment for four AA batteries. The cover plate holds the motors in place and can be used to mount your electronics, such as the microcontroller, motor driver and sensors.

For complete assembly, please refer to the assembly instructions (English).

Pololu Zumo Chassis Individual Components

Motors (not included)

The Zumo chassis requires two motors. Depending on the desired speed, current draw and torque, we offer different gearmotors. We recommend our 50:1, 75:1 and 100:1 HP motors.

Gearmotor Free-Run Speed @ 6V Stall Torque @ 6V Stall Current @ 6V Top Zumo Speed @ 6V and 500g
100:1 HP 320 RPM 30 oz·in 1600 mA 20 in/s (50 cm/s)
75:1 HP 400 RPM 22 oz·in 1600 mA 25 in/s (65 cm/s)
50:1 HP 625 RPM 15 oz·in 1600 mA 40 in/s (100 cm/s)
Electronics (not included)
The Zumo Shield is a simple interface between the Zumo chassis and an Arduino Uno or an Arduino Leonardo. The shield plugs directly onto the chassis and is connected to the battery pack and the motors. The Arduino main board plugs onto the Zumo Shield.

The shield has the electronics needed to drive the motors and to add some extra fun. It features a buzzer for sound effects, a 3-axis accelerometer, a compass and a gyroscope for orientation tracking.

The chassis is also part of the Zumo Robot Kit for Arduino. In addition to the chassis, this kit also includes the Zumo Shield and the Zumo Blade.

Batteries (not included)

Only four AA batteries (we recommend our 2100mAh rechargeable batteries or 2500mAh rechargeable batteries) and a USB-A to Micro-B cable for programming are additionally required.

Basic Zumo Blade (not included)

As an add-on, you can install the Zumo Blade. With the metal plate mounted, the Zumo can push objects around. You can use the design file of the Sumo Blade as a reference for your own custom Sumo Blade.

Dimensions
Fully assembled, the Zumo chassis is 98 mm wide, 86 mm long and 39 mm high, with about 5 mm of ground clearance.
The assembled Zumo chassis weighs approx. 210 g with motors and batteries.
