Description
This is a breakout board for the STMicroelectronics (ST) STSPIN220 low-voltage stepper motor driver. The stepper motor driver offers microstepping resolutions down to 1/256 of a stage and enables stepless control of a bipolar stepper motor with up to 1.1 A per phase without a heatsink or forced airflow.
We recommend that you carefully read the STSPIN220 datasheet before using this product.
Here are some of the most important features of the driver:
- Simple step and direction control interface
- Nine different step resolutions up to 256 microsteps: full step, half step, 1/4 step, 1/8 step, 1/16 step, 1/32 step, 1/64 step, 1/128 step and 1/256 step
- The adjustable current control allows you to set the maximum current output, enabling you to use voltages above the rated voltage of your stepper motor to achieve higher step rates.
- Motor supply voltage: 1.8 V to 10 V (for a higher voltage alternative, consider the STSPIN820, which operates from 7 V to 45 V)
- Can continuously deliver 1.1 A per phase without additional cooling
- Can be directly connected to 3.3V and 5V systems.
- Overheating protection, overcurrent shutdown and short-circuit protection
- 4-layer 2 oz copper PCB for improved heat dissipation
- Exposed solderable ground connection point on the underside of the circuit board
- In most cases, the module size, pin assignment, and interface are identical to those of the Pololu A4988 stepper motor driver.
