Description
This powerful SRF08 ultrasonic range finder is compact and has a surprisingly large measuring range of 3 cm to 6m.
Communication with the SRF08 ultrasonic range finder takes place via the I2C bus. This bus is available on common controllers such as the OOPic and the Stamp BS2p, as well as a variety of other microcontrollers.
To the programmer, the SRF08 behaves exactly like the 24xx series EEPROMs, except that the I2C address is different. The default shipping address of the SRF08 is 0xE0. It can be changed by the user to one of the 16 addresses E0, E2, E4, E6, E8, EA, EC, EE, F0, F2, F4, F6, F8, FA, FC or FE. This allows up to 16 sensors to be connected at the same time.
In addition to the addresses above, all sonar devices on the I2C bus respond to address 0 - the general broadcast address. This means that writing a ranging command to I2C address 0 (0x00) starts the ranging of all sonars simultaneously. This should be helpful in ANN mode. The results must be read individually from the real address of each sonar.
