The piezoelectric Respiration Sensor (PZT) from biosignalsplux is an affordable entry-level solution for capturing basic respiratory data. This sensor consists of a wearable chest strap with an integrated, localized sensor element that measures displacement variations caused by volume changes of the thorax or abdomen during respiratory cycles (inhalation/exhalation).
The elastic chest strap can be adjusted in length to fit different anatomies (e.g., male and/or female), body locations (e.g., thorax and/or abdomen), and chest/abdominal circumferences. Typical applications of this sensor include respiratory monitoring to determine respiratory cycles, rates, relative amplitudes, and other characteristics.
