Description
This combustible gas and smoke sensor from Pololu detects concentrations of combustible gas in the air and outputs its readings as an analog voltage. The sensor can measure combustible gas concentrations from 300 to 10,000 ppm. The sensor can operate at temperatures from -20 to 50 ° C and draws less than 150 mA at 5 V. Please refer to the MQ2 datasheet for more information.
Connections:
When five volts are applied across the heater pins (H), the sensor stays hot enough to function correctly. When five volts are applied to pin A or B, the sensor outputs an analog voltage on the other pins. A resistive load between the output pins and ground sets the sensitivity of the detector. Please note that the picture in the datasheet for the top configuration is incorrect. Both configurations have the same pinout, which matches the bottom configuration. The resistive load should be calibrated for your specific application using the equations in the datasheet, but a good starting value for the resistance is 20 k?.
We offer two breakout boards that make it easier to connect to these sensors: a Pololu carrier board and a SparkFun carrier board.
