Description
This carbon monoxide (CO) and combustible gas sensor from Pololu detects concentrations of CO and combustible gas in the air and outputs its readings as an analog voltage. The MQ-9 sensor can measure CO concentrations from 10 to 1,000 ppm and combustible gas from 100 to 10,000 ppm. The sensor can be operated at temperatures from -10 to 50 ° C and requires less than 150 mA at 5 V.
Connecting the MQ-9 gas sensor:
When five volts are applied across the heater pins (H), the sensor stays hot enough to function correctly. When five volts are applied to pins A or B, the sensor sends an analog voltage to the other pins. A resistive load between the output pins and ground sets the sensitivity of the detector. Please note that the image in the datasheet for the top configuration is incorrect. Both configurations have the same pinout, which matches the bottom configuration. The resistive load should be calibrated for your specific application using the equations in the datasheet, but a good starting value for the resistance is 20 k?.
We offer two breakout boards that make it easier to connect to these sensors: a Pololu carrier board and a SparkFun carrier board.
