A lithium-polymer battery is the further development of a lithium-ion battery. The special structure of the LiPo battery offers a higher ionic conductivity than its predecessor - for this reason, its use as an energy source is particularly popular in modelling, as a high current delivery is required here. There are many different designs, such as cylindrical cells, prismatic cells or pocket-sized cells. They are therefore used in a wide range of applications, whether in model making, mobile phones or MP3 players. It is also very popular in the DIY sector due to these characteristics.
